Friday 4/20

- 7:45 Assembly – Gullett’s Going Green Club will give a presentation about Earth Week.

Saturday 4/21

- All day – Give 5% to Mother Earth, shopping at local businesses. Visit www.austingive5.com for more information.
- 8-2 Earth Family Fest; Sustainable Food Center’s Farmer’s market, Republic Square. Food, music, art, workshops.
- 10-3 Zerolandfill: art supply giveaway of tile, laminate, fabric, binders and other samples collected from the design community. 4509 Freidrich Lane, Bldg 4, Ste 418
- 11-5 Insect Fiesta: Celebrate insects! Insect petting zoo, cockroach races, Austin bike zoo, butterfly house, music, K – 12 teacher workshop. Lake Austin Center – Brackenridge Field Lab, 3001 Lake Austin Boulevard. Free!
- 6:30-8:30 Whole Foods Picnic for the Planet, sponsored by the Nature Conservancy: Pick up some food and help set the record for the most people picnicking. “Trashion” show, live music. Whole Foods Plaza, 525 N. Lamar Blvd.

Sunday 4/22 EARTH DAY

- 9-2 Earth Day on Shoal Creek, Austin Parks Foundation: Help clean up our creek; rsvp required. More information here
- 12-6 EARTH DAY FESTIVAL; the hangar at Mueller: lots of kids’ activities, crafts, food, exhibitors, speakers. See www.earthdayaustin.com for more information. If you’re going to go to one event, this is the one!

Monday 4/23

- 2:45 – 3:30 Craft: Paper tube creations; located at the tables by 1st grade portables; bring a parent and any cardboard paper towel or tissue tubes you have lying around (we will have some there, too).

Tuesday 4/24

- Zero-waste lunch: Pack your lunch in reusable, recyclable, or compostable materials. Sort before you throw! See this link for zero-waste lunch tips. Remember that all paper and food is compostable in our school’s commercial compost. Information about AISD recycling and compost can be found at www.greenschoolsolutions.com. Currently, we are NOT able to recycle styrofoam at Gullett.

Wednesday 4/25

- Walk or bike to school
- Wear earth colors or themes today!
- Green Club Lunchtime Quiz – Answer pop questions about earth day, recycling, composting, and sustainability during your lunchtime.

Thursday 4/26

- 2:45 – 3:30 Craft: Printmaking; meet at the tables by 1st grade portables; bring a parent; all materials provided.

Friday 4/27

- National Arbor Day – see www.arborday.org for more information.
- 7:45 Assembly – Gullett’s Going Green Club will give a presentation about Earth Week.
- 2:45 – 3:30 Good Stuff Swap: trade your gently-used books, toys, clothes; reusable bags for sale; outside the library.
- Art Show today! Look for recycling and composting containers and be sure to put waste in the correct one.


Saturday 4/28

- 10-2 National Drug Take Back Day – to fight drug abuse and help the environment – Bring unused prescription and OTC drugs for safe disposal. Never flush drugs down the drain – it contaminates our groundwater. Austin locations: UT College of Pharmacy, 100 W. Dean Keaton; Cornerstone Church, 1101 Reinli; Barton Creek Square Mall; Austin Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 2514 Center Drive.
