Want to Help?
Children and teachers in Texas public schools need your help as the 2009-10 academic year begins. Parental involvement in their children's education matters — a lot.
According research publlished by Texas-based Southwest Education Development Laboratory, "Students with involved parents, no matter their income or background, are more likely to:
- Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs.
- Be promoted, pass their classes and earn credits.
- Attend school regularly.
- Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt to school.
- Graduate and go on to post-secondary education.
Every parent matters. Every parent's involvement in a child's education helps that young person's likelihood of succeeding in school. The more time a parent can invest, the greater the payoff for the child.
Here at Gullett, there are so many ways to help the school, from volunteering your time and talents to donating goods and money.
