Book Fair

Contacts: Susan Moore, Julie Barrett or Jennifer Morales

What better way to raise money than by buying books and helping to instill a love of reading in your children? This event comes in a couple of different forms during the year: a one-day event in Septembers, a week in December, and a half-priced book fair in May.

Gullett Fall Carnival

Gullett's fall carnival is always scheduled for late October or early November. This fun event features games, treats and bands.

In the Fall of 2009, we had world musicians, international food, an exotic petting zoo, a giant climbing wall, a box maze, putt-putt golf, fortune tellers, games of skill, henna artists, origami lessons, the infamous cake walk, Chinese calligraphy, a dunking booth, and pony rides!

Sports Day

Contacts: Bernadette LaWare or Nancy Edwards

Sports Day is in the spring every year and is a lot of fun. The whole school goes out to the grounds to play different sporting events. Funds raised during Sports Day go directly to the P.E. program at Gullett.

Gecko Bucks

Contacts: Carol Brookhart or Dianna Tinkler

We all spend money at HEB, Randalls, Shell, Starbucks, Claires, movie theaters! With gift cards purchased through the PTA, stores give different percentages of money spent back to Gullett. So $100 at HEB will yield Gullett $3 and that adds up if 100 families do that every month! You are not contributing $3/ month, HEB is!

  • Think ahead about purchases that you normally make birthdays, teacher gifts, babysitters, clothes, relatives out of town.
  • Give forms to family and neighbors and have them give you their checks.
  • When planning a major appliance and/or electronics purchase, consider buying gift cards to cover the cost from Sears, Best Buy, Home Depot, or Lowe's.

If you think of a retailer not on our list, check out the glscrip website at www.glscrip.com to view the complete list of more than 400 retailers. You can write it in on the order form. If you want to see it regularly on the form, let us know.

How does it work?

  • Gullett PTA buys the cards at a discount and sells them for face value.
  • Send in your check payable to Gullett PTA before the dates listed below. Checks will be deposited ON the due date. If received after the deadline, they will go in next month's order.
  • Activated cards will be available for pick up at school (2:45-3:00 pm) on the dates listed above!
  • Special arrangements can be made for Gullett neighborhood delivery.
  • Shop with the prepaid gift cards at any of the retailers on order form on back or check out glscrip.com for other options and write in one we don't have on the form.
  • Drop off orders by 3 pm on the due date:
    • Use the provided form to order your cards (MS Excel format) .
    • Send through your child's folder in an envelope marked "Gecko Bucks". Allow 2-3 days for Gecko Mail to deliver to committee.
    • The brown box with flowers on the counter in the office.
    • Hand deliver to Carol Brookhart, Karen Miller, or Dianna Tinkler.
  • Pick up is at the playground from 2:45-3:00 pm on the delivery date. We can make other arrangements for evening pick up, just let us know.

Mr Gatti's and CraigO's Pizza Nights

The second full week of the month, on Tuesday, is Gullett Night at CraigO's pizza on 2222 and Mopac (in Randall's parking lot). The last Tuesday of the month is Gullett Night at Mr. Gatti's. Both nights, Gullett gets a rebate! The rebate at Mr. Gatti's goes towards carnival, book fair, and other pizza events at school. CraigOs sends us a check! Go and meet some friends or order out or pick up — just mention Gullett!

Company Matching Programs

Many local companies will match donations you make to a school. Check to see if your company has such a program; you get a tax donation and Gullett benefits two fold!

Here's how the Matching Gift Program works: You request the "Matching Gift Form" from your employer, complete your part, and send it in to Gullett PTA along with your donation. Gullett PTA will fill in our part and send it back to the company. Please note that the list we maintain is not a comprehensive list. Please check with your employer's Human Resources office to see if they participate in this program.
