Instead of asking everyone to sell gift wrap, pay PTA dues, purchase a directory, and donate to Spanish... we are simply having a campaign to raise money for our PTA budget with donations! Every family will get a PTA membership, every family will get a directory, and every child will get Spanish during their school week. PLUS - you get a tax deduction!
If everyone were to pay $120/child, the PTA budget would be covered. So that is what is being suggested. However, not everyone can do that so we ask that you make any kind of donation that you can. You can write a check or pay with a credit card through PayPal. You can do it in installments throughout the year. You can also have your relatives make donations - we won't turn down any money!
If you like the gift wrap sale, you can still buy it and Gullett gets credit. We will still have Carnival and Silent Auction because they are fun community builders. We will still have Gecko Bucks (gift cards) because that is EASY money we earn from COMPANIES and not from our own pockets. We will still do Reading is Fundamental because it's a great way to teach children how to give to others.

If you intend to donate more or less than $125, please consider adding in the costs of credit card processing! To pay with a check, download and fill out the donation form and send it with your child in a clearly marked envelope.

Matching Gift Programs
Many companies have Matching Gift Programs and will match their employees' donations to any registered nonprofit organization. All the employee has to do is request the "Matching Gift Form" from their employer, completes his/her part, and send it in to Gullett PTA along with his/her donation. We will fill in our part and send it back to the company. We maintain a list of several companies that have indicated that they have Matching Gift Programs. However, this is not a comprehensive list. Please check with your employer's Human Resources office to see if they participate in this program.
Where does the Money go?
- Cultural Art Events (Jazz bands, chinese dancers, Zach Scott plays...) The kids welcomed opera singer Christine Mallette during the 2008-09 school year.
- Spanish for all 6 grades during the school day! The program is interactive and fun.
- Teacher Development (dyslexia, ADHD, G/T, History Alive)
- Classroom Materials (updated globes & maps, updated dictionaries, reading programs, "Handwriting Without Tears", literacy library books, listening stations in the library)
- Wellness Events - Family Fitness Fun
- Food and Care for our Animals
- Scholarships for Gullett Families in Need
- Newsletters, Directories, Parent Education Nights
- PE Equipment
- Library Books
- ... the list goes on
Endowment

The Parliamentarian will be in charge of duties related to the Endowment. The money in the Endowment (The Gullett Future Fund) earns interest for the PTA; currently it owns about 5 percent. Committee tasks include raising funds, writing thank you's and acquiring thank you gifts (large donations), and mostly educating people about the existence of this fund. If the fund grows to a larger amount, it can help the PTA and cut fundraising efforts overall.Gullett Future Fund

From Gullett's beginning in December 1956 when we were the Gophers to the time we became the Gators to finally becoming the Geckos, our school has been loved by all who come through the doors. There is no better way to show your gratitude for an institution that you loved so much than by giving back.
Gullett Elementary started an endowment in 2005. This is a fund whose principle will never be touched. However, as the fund grows, it earns more interest and this interest is available to the PTA to finance such wonderful programs as a computer lab, the Spanish program, teacher education and our native Texas gardens. Imagine a time in the future when a Gullett PTA won't have to have any fundraisers because the endowment has grown so much it can totally fund all it's great projects each year!
It can happen if you give! Each contribution is totally tax-deductible. Make a contribution in your student's honor, in honor of a beloved teacher, or in memory of someone who has left us.
